PRODUCT USE AND CARE
PANDORA offers an exciting and fascinating collection of Danish designed jewellery. Each piece of jewellery is hand-finished from high-quality materials, including sterling silver and 14k gold. Below are a number of useful tips on how to care for PANDORA jewellery.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Genuine pieces of jewellery are kept for many years, the precious metals, stones, and cultured freshwater pearls require maintenance and care.
PROTECTING YOUR JEWELLERY
We recommend that customers remove their jewellery before going to bed or participating in physical activity and rings should be removed when washing hands. Remember that jewellery should not be exposed to chlorine, chemicals or salt water, as this will dull the appearance. Also, avoid contact with make-up, creams, perfume and hair spray. Furthermore, exposure to excess heat can cause the metals to expand, resulting in stones dropping as the setting is loosened.
POLISHING
A polishing cloth is a great tool for making dull sterling silver jewellery. However, it will not remove scratches. Polishing cloths can be gained from PANDORA stores. Additionally, PANDORA Malaysia offers complementary jewellery polishing services specially tailored for PANDORA products.
CLEANING YOUR JEWELLERY
To clean, add a small amount of mild soap to lukewarm water and use a soft toothbrush, brushing jewellery gently in circular motion. Rinse with clean water. Toothbrushes are ideal for cleaning jewellery with patterns, which can otherwise be difficult to clean. If the dirt is hard to remove, soak the jewellery in the soapy water for 5-10 minutes. Threading problems can occur if dirt builds up around the interior thread of the charm; regular cleaning will prevent this problem.
OXIDISED JEWELLERY
Oxidised (dark) jewellery has undergone a special surface treatment. Oxidisation disappears over time; how quickly depends on the way in which jewellery is treated. Perspiration, chlorine, perfumes, cleaning agents and silver polish can all cause oxidisation to fade. Oxidisation that fades is considered normal wear and tear and is not a defect. We do not recommend using liquid silver polish or silver dip as they damage the oxidation.
THE BRACELET
The PANDORA charm bracelet will stretch slightly over time from the weight of charms. The chain, commonly known as the snake chain, is made out of many little rings which are twisted very tightly on the chain. When buying a new bracelet, it should be fairly tight. There should be no more than two fingers space between your wrist and bracelet.
SILICON PARTS
Some jewellery pieces stay in place due to an in-built silicon grip. The silicone grip should not be exposed to silver polish, silver dip, ultrasonic cleaning, strong chemicals or sudden temperature shocks as this may weaken its gripping ability on the bracelet.
STORAGE
Jewellery should be stored away from natural sunlight and heat, in a protected (lined) jewellery box or a tarnish-resistant pouch to avoid scratches and prevent tarnish. It can also be stored in zip lock bag made from Mylar or polyethylene. Never use polyvinyl plastic bags, such as trash can liners as they contain sulphur compounds, or rubber containers which will make sterling silver tarnish faster and can also turn silver jewellery black. Do not store your jewellery in moist and damp areas such as in the bathroom.
Please note that our PANDORA gift boxes are not made for long-term storage as they are not airtight and tarnishing will occur over time.
COMPATIBILITY
PANDORA’s two charm bracelet concepts, Moments and ESSENCE COLLECTION, are not compatible. Due to the petite design of the ESSENCE COLLECTION charms, they won’t physically fit on the Moments bracelets. While the Moments charms will fit on the ESSENCE COLLECTION bracelets, doing so may damage the slender bracelet design and resulting damage is not covered by the warranty.
STONES
The PANDORA stone assortment includes high-quality gemstones, cultured pearls and man-made stones. Avoid rough handling and when not in use, keep items of jewellery separate to avoid scratches. Clean with lukewarm, soapy water and gentle brushing. Charms composed of stones with an inner silver core are susceptible to damage. Take care not to drop these on hard surfaces or expose to hard knocks. In addition to this, some stones have special care requirements; please consult your PANDORA retailer for further information.
FRESHWATER CULTURED PEARLS
Cultured freshwater pearls must always be treated with special care. Do not soak, rub or wet these items and do not expose to cleaning agents. Cultured freshwater pearls cannot withstand silver polish or silver dip and must only be cleaned with a soft toothbrush or a cloth.
ENAMEL
Enamel provides the jewellery with beautiful, glossy colours and a durable finish. The type of enamel used by PANDORA is Italian made without glass, which improves its durability. All enamel on PANDORA jewellery is applied by hand. Also, excess heat may cause enamel discolouration.
GLASS
PANDORA Murano glass is directly imported from Murano, Italy. As a characteristic of the production method, each PANDORA glass charm is unique and may contain small variation in the design, colour and size. They will also contain a varying amount of small glass bubbles. These variations are evidence of the high degree of handcrafting involved in making the glass design. Glass by nature is delicate and will potentially crack when in contact with certain force of impact or when suddenly heated.
LEATHER
Genuine leather is a natural product which may stretch and relax over time. Stretching is not a manufacturing defect in this product. As a natural feature of genuine leather, you may notice small variations in colour or thickness. You may also experience a change in the shade of the leather due to oils in the skin and the addition of charms to the bracelet or necklace.
Use a maximum of 7-9 charms. When adding the charms to the new leather bracelets, please take care to hold the leather bracelet steady and twist the charm onto the bracelet. Be careful not to twist the leather part of the bracelet when adding charms, as the leather may be damaged.
Do not submerge the leather in water or other liquids that may cause damage or discolouration.
PANDORA ROSE
Maintain the wonderful shine and unique finish of PANDORA Rose by polishing the jewellery with a soft polishing cloth that doesn’t have an integrated cleaning compound. To clean, simply dampen the cloth in lukewarm water, adding a small amount of mild soap, and rub gently on jewellery. Rinse with clean water and pat dry with a soft cloth. If jewellery is particularly dirty, soak for 5-10 minutes. Silver dips, cleaning compounds and polishing liquids are not recommended and contact with abrasive surfaces should be avoided.
Do not expose jewellery to contact with harsh chemicals, perfume and lotions, and remove jewellery prior to bathing, swimming or coming into contact with water. It is normal for plating to wear off over time. PANDORA’s warranty does not cover this wear and tear. Jewellery can be re-plated but this service is not provided by PANDORA. Please note that the delicate colour of copper-rich jewellery may intensify with age due to tarnishing, but this only adds to the jewellery’s stunning vintage appeal.
